ATLANTA, Ga. - The Piedmont University baseball team earned a pair of impressive victories on the road at Emory Saturday with a 10-5 win and a 12-1 final in game two.

Game 1: Piedmont 10, Emory 5

The Lions were able to jump out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning after three stolen bases and five hits, including a MAC BARTON 2-run home run. 

Piedmont totaled 12 hits and spread the wealth with seven of the starting nine in the batting order recording a hit.

KOLTON HICKS, CARTER BALLSTADT and Barton all recorded three RBI in game one. 

Emory tacked on one in the sixth and threatened in the seventh with three runs, but Piedmont held a 10-0 advantage before the Eagles tacked on a run. 

Game 2: Piedmont 12, Emory 1

Game two saw Piedmont continue the momentum with 12 runs on 15 hits as the offensive was explosive Saturday. 

Once again, the Lions saw two big innings with five runs in the fourth and sixth innings. 

The scoring started in the third as Piedmont drove in two to break the scoreless tie, but in the fourth, poured it on with five runs on four hits and one error. 

CARTER BALLSTADT was impressive in game two going 5-for-5 with four doubles and four RBI. 

Up next, the two will square off in the series finale at Piedmont Sunday at 2 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
--A 5-run third inning put the Lions in control of game one, while another 5-spot in the sixth proved to be the difference. 
--Both starters for Piedmont were impressive going six innings allowing just one earned run. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--BODIE EILERTSON moved to 4-0 this season with a win in game one going six innings while allowing just one earned run. 
--ZEKE SWARTZ also remained undefeated this year going six innings, allowing one earned run and striking out eight batters. 
--CARTER BALLSTADT was 5-for-5 with four RBI in game two as he amassed seven hits and seven RBI in the two games. 

NEWS AND NOTES:
--Piedmont scored 22 runs in the doubleheader with 20 of those runs coming in four innings as Piedmont had four 5-run innings on the day.
