Game 1 – Piedmont 4, Southwestern 1
Piedmont fell behind early, with Southwestern striking first for a run in the bottom of the second. Following an error and a stolen base, starter
EMMA MCBRAYER allowed just one hit in the inning, but it was enough for the Pirates to take a 1-0 lead. The run in the second was the last one allowed by McBrayer on the day.
The Lady Lions responded in the top of the fourth, with
HANNAH MORGAN leading off the inning with a double down the left field line. After a
MADISON HENRY single,
LYNDZI PARTLOW tripled home two, giving the team its first lead of the game. The damage wasn't done as
LEXI CHITWOOD singled to right center, bringing home Partlow and pushing the lead to 3-1.
In the top of the seventh, Piedmont added an insurance run in the form of a two out double from
MACIE ALLEN to make it 4-1. In the bottom half, McBrayer shut the door on Southwestern as she finished off another complete game for the Lady Lions.
Game 2 – Piedmont 6, Southwestern 3
The Piedmont offense got off to a hot start in Game 2. Striking first, Piedmont opened the scoring in the top of the second.
LYNDZI PARTLOW tripled to right center with two down which was followed by a
HEARTLY NEPVEUX RBI double to make the score 1-0.
In the top of the third, a one out walk from
JASMINE LOWERY gave the Piedmont offense a building block and a two out single from
HANNAH MORGAN scored Lowery from second. The Lady Lions didn't stop there as
RILEY FORD singled later in the inning scoring Morgan.
The Lady Lions offense continued to pour it on, adding three more runs in the top of the fifth. With one on and one gone,
MADISON HENRY doubled to center to put runners in scoring position.
LYNDZI PARTLOW capitalized on the opportunity, singling to short and recording the RBI as Henry scored on the play. The onslaught continued as Piedmont stole home and then
NATALIE HANSON slashed an RBI single shortly after.
Southwestern gave a scare late as they managed to plate three of their own in the bottom of the fifth. Starting pitcher
