DANVILLE, Ky. - The Piedmont men's lacrosse team was unable to overcome a slow start in a 13-6 Sunday afternoon loss at Centre.

The Colonels jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after the first quarter and held that lead the rest of the way as the Lions clawed back into the contest but the deficit was too large.

Freshman WILL ISLEY put the Lions on the board early in the second quarter, but Centre immediately answered with another 3-0 scoring run to lead 7-1.

The third quarter saw the Piedmont defense step up, shutting out the Colonels as the Lions received late goals from MICHAEL ANDERSON and BRADY MCGUIRE to cut their deficit to 10-6.

However, the Centre defense clamped down in the fourth, holding the Lions scoreless for the rest of the game to take the win.

Goalie JOHNNY MATRONA made 10 saves in the loss for Piedmont.

TURNING POINT:
- Centre blitzed the Lions out of the gate, scoring the first four goals of the game.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Isley continued his impressive start to his career, scoring a goal and adding a team-high two assists.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Colonels held a 44-20 shot advantage for the game and a 37-16 edge in ground balls.
