DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's basketball team bounced back on Friday night with a 71-63 victory over Covenant inside Cave Arena.
The Lady Lions led most of the way with their largest lead being 19 points with 6:54 left in the third quarter. The Scots battled back and cut their deficit to five midway through the fourth quarter.Â
However, Piedmont finished the game strong to earn the season sweep over Covenant.
Junior forward
DESTINY DEETZ led the Lions, with a career-best 15 points while adding eight rebounds. Senior
COLBY REED came off the bench to lead a hot three-point shooting attack. Reed finished with 14 points and made 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Joining the group in double figures was
ASHLEY SCOTT, who poured in 14 points on 2-of-3 from deep while
LAKEN STILES added 11 points thanks to a rock solid 7-of-8 effort from the free throw line.
Piedmont delivered strong team performances from beyond the arc (8-of-16) and the foul line (15-of-20) to come up with the victory.
Up next, the Lions will look to make it two in a row, battling conference leader Berea tomorrow at 2 p.m.
TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont's 22-12 scoring run in the first quarter was all it needed to take the contest.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Deetz continued her strong play of late with a career-high 15 points to go with a team-high eight rebounds. She has now scored in double figures three times in conference play this season.
