DECATUR, Ga. - The Piedmont women's basketball team continued to roll in conference play moving to 3-0 after an impressive 76-40 win at Agnes Scott Saturday.
Piedmont took an early lead but fell behind 8-7 midway through the first quarter. The Lady Lions held a 13-11 lead heading to the second period after a
NAKIYAH WASHINGTON jumper, but the second quarter saw Piedmont charge ahead.
The Lady Lion defense kept the Scotties off the board through nearly the first five minutes of the second quarter as Piedmont built a 19-11 lead. The Scotties made just two baskets from the floor in the second quarter, a pair of 3-pointers.
Piedmont led 32-17 at the break and came out of halftime with renewed momentum. Piedmont scored 23 in the third and 21 in the fourth quarter to coast to a 76-40 win.
Agnes Scott's Haylah Spence led all scorers with 21 points, scoring over half the Scotties' total while playing all 40 minutes.
Up next, the Lady Lions will travel to Maryville College Saturday for a conference showdown at 2 p.m.
TURNING POINT:
--It was just a two-point game heading into the second period, but the Lady Lions outscored the Scotties 19-6 in the second quarter to take a 32-17 lead at the break.

NAKIYAH WASHINGTON led Piedmont with 11 points while
DESTINY DEETZ led the team with nine rebounds.
--Fourteen Lady Lions scored in the contest as 14 of 16 who played scored.
