DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's soccer team earned its first win of the season in dominant fashion Friday evening 5-0 over Toccoa Falls. Under the lights at Walker Athletic Complex, the Lady Lions shone bright with five different goal scorers in the contest.
The Lady Lions were on the board early with a goal in the eighth minute by
KAITY HEMPERLY as she connected on one of her four shots on goal Friday. The goal marked the first of the season for Piedmont.
ANYA OLSON was able to tack on another in the first half finishing a cross into the bottom left corner of the net to give Piedmont a 2-0 advantage in the 26th minute and a 2-0 lead at the break.
Olson was back at it providing an assist on the first goal of the second half as
VICTORIA SIERRA capitalized in the bottom left pocket as well in the 50th minute.
A handball in the box led to a penalty kick for
KAYLEE KING who finished it off and built the lead to 4-0.
The end cap for the evening came in the 89th minute as
KATY BROWN converted on a corner kick with a header for the final goal of the night.
It was statistically even in the two halves and Piedmont tallied 19 shots in each and the Screaming Eagles made eight saves in both halves.
Up next, Piedmont returns to action early Sunday hosting East Texas Baptist at 10:30 a.m. at the WAC.
