MACON, Ga. - The Piedmont volleyball team won their first match of the season and the first match in CCS league play Thursday knocking off Wesleyan 3-2. 

Piedmont left no doubt in the opening set cruising to a 25-5 win but the next set saw the Wolves claw back with a 28-26 win to even it at 1-1. The two traded sets again with Piedmont taking the third 25-16 before Wesleyan answered 25-20. In the fifth, the Lady Lions sealed the deal 15-9 to earn their first win of the season. 

JENNA ASH was dominant with 13 kills as Piedmont tallied 40 in the five-setter to Wesleyan's 34. TAYLOR HERRMANN tallied 12 digs to lead the Lady Lions. 

Up next, the Lady Lions will continue Collegiate Conference of the South play in the first league tri-match at Maryville taking on the Scots and Belhaven Saturday. 

TURNING POINT:
--In the fifth set, Piedmont was able to pull away with a 15-9 win to claim the victory and move to 1-0 in conference play. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Ash's 13 kills tied a season-high for the sophomore who tallied 13 against Meredith on opening weekend.
