BUENA VISTA, Va. - A slow start for the Piedmont men's lacrosse team proved to be too much to overcome Friday as the Lions fell 15-6 to Pfeiffer in the USA South semifinals. 

It was a scoreless affair until 4:17 remained in the first period as Pfeiffer scored first, but the Lions answered just over two minutes later. 

AVERY JENKS put Piedmont on the board, but the Falcons were able to add two late goals to lead 3-1 at the end of the first. With 14 seconds on the clock, Pfeiffer took a 2-1 lead and just 10 seconds later, found the back of the net again to lead 3-1. 

It was all Pfeiffer in the second quarter with four goals including a man up goal with 5:23 to go till halftime. Piedmont trailed 7-1 at the break. 

The Lions were the first on the board in the third period with a goal by PHILLIP WATTERS followed by one from CONNOR ROGERS. Piedmont outcored the Falcons 5-3 in that period with WILLIAM FRENCH, JADON MORINI and BRADY MCGUIRE getting in on the action.

Piedmont was held off the scoreboard in the final period as Pfeiffer scored the final six goals of the contest. 

JOHNNY MATRONA took the loss allowing 15 goals while making 16 saves. 

TURNING POINT:
--Piedmont trailed 7-1 at the half after being outscored 4-0 in the second quarter. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--AVERY JENKS was the lone Lion with two points with a goal and an assist.
