ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - In the season finale, the Piedmont University baseball team dropped a 9-1 contest to Huntingdon College to conclude their USA South Tournament run.
The Lions struggled defensively with seven errors in the contest coming primarily in the infield.
BODIE EILERTSON earned the start for the Lions tossing six innings allowing three hits and taking the loss. Huntingdon's Patterson pitched a complete game on the hill for the Hawks giving up four hits and seven walks.
Three errors in the second inning combined with one hit led to the Hawks taking a 3-0 lead. They added another in the third to lead 4-0, but the Lions were able to strike back with a run in the sixth.
Alez Gonzalez was walked and came home to score on a
GRANT OLSON double marking the Lions' only run of the game.
One error, two walks and a hit by pitch worked against Piedmont in the seventh as Huntingdon added three more runs and problems arose again in the ninth leading to a 9-1 loss.
TURNING POINT:
--The Hawks were able to score three in the second inning and take control of the contest early.

CONNER JELLEY was 3-for-4 in the leadoff spot for the Lions in the final game of his career.
