Piedmont Baseball Falls to Huntingdon Saturday

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont University baseball team dropped a 19-0 decision to Huntingdon on Saturday. The Lions will close out the home schedule on Sunday with senior day at 2 p.m. at Loudermilk Field. 

The Hawks were on top quickly with four runs in the first and the damage was done. Piedmont was unable to plate a run in the contest on five hits.

Huntingdon managed 19 runs on 18 hits including four extra base hits as Daniel Phillips hit his third homerun in the last two games with a 2-run shot in the fourth inning. 

With six runs in the fifth inning, the Hawks led 12-0 and tacked on two runs in the sixth and five in the seventh. 

BRADEN SIMMS took the loss as Piedmont used five arms total in the contest. 

Up next, Piedmont's final home contest of the 2022 season will be Sunday at 2 p.m. Senior day will take place prior to the contest at approximately 1:40 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
--The Hawks took control quickly in the top of the first with four runs to claim the lead. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--KYLE CARLSON accounted for two of Piedmont's five hits.

NEWS AND NOTES:
--Sunday marks senior day at Piedmont and the final home contest of the season.
