GEORGETOWN, Texas - A fourth quarter rally by Calvin cost the Piedmont men's lacrosse team in a 9-8 loss in Texas Tuesday. Piedmont led 7-5 early in the fourth quarter but the Knights scored four straight to claim a 9-7 lead before the Lions tacked one on late. 

Calvin was first on the board and held a 3-2 advantage after the first period, but senior attackman AVERY JENKS knotted the score at three with an unassisted man-down goal early in the second.

The Knights broke the tie with a pair of goals before the half to claim a 5-3 lead at the break. 

Piedmont won the third quarter outscoring the Knights 3-0 to lead 6-5 with Jenks contributing a pair while IAN PARR added one as well. 

Jenks scored the final goal of the third quarter and the first of the fourth, both in man-up opportunities, taking advantage of Calvin penalties. 

Piedmont led 7-5, but the Knights rallied to score four straight and take the lead. It was 8-7 before a final goal with 25 seconds remaining for the Knights. 

The Lions tacked one on late with six seconds remaining as MACKLIN FLANIGAN found the back of the net off an assist by Jenks.

Up next, the Lions will face Southwestern Thursday at 8:00 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
--The Knights scored four straight to take the lead in the fourth quarter including a goal inside the final 30 seconds to make it a two-goal game. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--AVERY JENKS led the way for the Lions with four goals and an assist.
--BRADY MCGUIRE and IAN PARR both added a goal and an assist for Piedmont. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--Piedmont had 41 shots to the Knights' 34 with 24 Lions shots on goal while Calvin had just 19 shots on goal.
