BREVARD, N.C. - The Piedmont women's basketball team kept the momentum rolling on Tuesday night at Brevard, prevailing 70-57 for its 11th straight victory.

The Lady Lions pulled away in the second quarter and held off the Tornados the rest of the way, leading by double digits most of the second half.

LIVIA SKINNER continued her outstanding senior season, pacing the team with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting. HOPE FRANKLIN came off the bench and nearly recorded her second consecutive double-double, with 16 points and nine rebounds in 21 minutes.

The game was back-and-forth in the early going, as Brevard took its first and only lead at 4-2. However, it was short-lived, with the Lady Lions using a quick 8-0 run to take the advantage which they held the rest of the way. Piedmont led by just one at 14-13 with 2:50 remaining in the opening period but used a 7-2 run to finish out the quarter and lead by six going to the second.

After the Tornados cut their deficit to two early in the second, Piedmont delivered an onslaught from long range, connecting on four three-pointers (two each from Skinner and KLAIRE VARNEY) to lead 35-21 late in the first half.

Piedmont remained in control throughout the second half, leading by as many as 15 points and holding a double-digit lead for much of the third quarter.

The Lady Lions shot over 50 percent from the field in the second half and were able to separate thanks to outstanding defense, holding the Tornados to just 4-of-17 in the third quarter.

Up next, the Lady Lions will go for their 12th win in a row, hosting Agnes Scott for Senior Day this Saturday, Feb. 5 at 2:30 p.m.
