ATLANTA, Ga. - The Piedmont women's basketball team concluded the Emory Classic with its first loss of the season, coming at the hands of host school Emory by an 82-53 margin on Sunday evening.

The Lady Lions led in the early going, but the Eagles took over the lead late in the first quarter and never looked back on the way to the comfortable victory.

Piedmont was led by NAKIYAH WASHINGTON, who totaled 17 points to go with six rebounds. NAE-NAE EADES led the Lady Lions off the bench, with nine points, all of which came on free throws. The sophomore from Toccoa earned 12 free throw attempts, converting nine.

The Lady Lions were plagued by ice cold shooting throughout the contest, as the Eagles held them to 25.9% from the field and 3-of-24 from beyond the arc.

After Piedmont led 7-2 in the opening minutes, Emory reeled off a 21-5 run to end the first quarter and led 23-12 headed to the second.

The Eagles were able to push the lead to double digits midway through the second quarter and the lead only increased the rest of the way.

Emory was led by Claire Brock's 21 points and a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds from Erin Martin.

Up next, the Lady Lions will make their home debut, hosting Greensboro this coming Friday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m.

- Emory used a big first quarter run to grab control of the contest, which it never relinquished.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Washington delivered a season-best 17 points and the junior has increased her point total in all three games she has played in this season.
