DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's soccer team continued its winning ways on Saturday, holding off Huntingdon for a 1-0 victory on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Demorest.
Freshman
SIERRA JUDSON scored the only goal of the contest, a 58th minute strike from an impossible angle to give Piedmont its first home victory in Collegiate Conference of the South play.
The game was evenly played most of the way, with both sides playing sound defense, making good looks at the goal hard to come by.
The Lady Lions had a few good chances in the first half, holding a 9-6 shot advantage over the Hawks. However, they were unable to find the back of the net and the game went to the break scoreless.
Huntingdon delivered a few looks early in the second half, but Piedmont immediately flipped momentum back as Judson dribbled down the right sideline and unleashed a blast from an improbable angle that sailed into the top left corner of the net to give the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead.
From there, Piedmont shifted to defense mode, holding the Hawks off the scoreboard to complete its third consecutive CCS shutout.
Goalkeeper
HAYLEE DORNAN was rock solid for the Lions, making eight saves.
Up next, Piedmont will look to win its fifth contest in a row, hosting LaGrange this Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
