Lady Lions Advance To CCS Semifnals with 4-0 Shutout of Agnes Scott

NEED TO KNOW:
Score: Piedmont 4, Agnes Scott 0
Records: Piedmont, 11-5-2; Agnes Scott, 2-12-1

DEMOREST, Ga. - The top-seeded Piedmont women's soccer team rolled past Agnes Scott 4-0 on Saturday afternoon and into the semifinals of the CCS Tournament with a dominant home performance on a blustery day in Demorest.

Four different Lady Lions netted goals as Piedmont scored in the opening minutes and never looked back in the quarterfinal victory.

Senior standout ABBY JUDGE delivered the game-winner, coming in just the fourth minute while ELISSA LOTTER and MADDY PARRIS added first-half goals to remove all doubt heading to the break. With the Scotties playing very conservatively in the second half, the Lady Lions were still able to tack on another goal as freshman All-Conference performer Sierra Judson found the back of the net in the late going.

Overall, Piedmont enjoyed a 35-2 shot advantage and controlled possession throughout.

Just three minutes and change into the contest, Piedmont put pressure on the Scotties inside the box as Judge collected and put away a rebound as her own shot was deflected. This marked Judge's first non-penalty kick goal of the season and her third overall.

Then, just under 10 minutes later, a perfect short cross from senior ANYA OLSON found the foot of Lotter, who delivered a rocket to the top right of the net for her first goal of the season.

While the Scotties were able to hold the onslaught temporarily, it did not last long, as Piedmont tacked on its third goal as MADDY PARRIS' goal-scoring hot streak continued. The junior has now scored three goals in her past three games after scoring twice last Saturday at Berea to close out the regular season.

While the Lions were unable to increase the lead through much of the second half, Judson put the exclamation mark on the game, feathering in a beautiful shot from about 30 yards out that fell out of the sky and into the top right corner of the net for the final tally of the afternoon.

Up next, Piedmont will host the winner of the LaGrange v. Covenant quarterfinal matchup scheduled for later this evening at 5 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- Both ABBY JUDGE and ELISSA LOTTER scored in the first 15 minutes of the game to remove all doubt in the early going.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Parris has now scored three times in her last three games.
- Judge's third goal of the season marks a career best for the senior.
- Lotter tallied her first of the season
- Judson's goal marked her third of the season and is the second time she has scored against the Scotties.
