Men's Soccer Drops CCS Semifinals 2-0 at LaGrange

LaGRANGE, Ga. - The Piedmont University men's soccer team saw its season come to an end after a 2-0 loss at LaGrange in the CCS Semifinals.

The Lions traveled to LaGrange as the No. 4 seed in the tournament to face the No. 1 seeded Panthers. The Panthers had already beaten the Lions during the regular season 1-0 in Demorest.

Piedmont nearly opened the scoring in the contest as Colin Vogel hit the post in the 14th minute of action but the team was unable to punch the follow-up home.

Under two minutes later, Enrique Hernandez put home his 21st goal on the year and gave LaGrange a 1-0 lead in the contest.

The Panthers turned the pressure up after the goal, continuing to fire away at the Piedmont net. The immense pressure on the back line would ultimately force a key mistake and the Lions suffered an own goal in the 26th minute to move the score line to 2-0.

Out of half time, LaGrange continued to dominate possession and the game, allowing the Lions just two shots in the second half and closed out the contest with a 2-0 win.

With the loss, Piedmont's season came to an end with a 4-9-5 record overall.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Panthers out shot the Lions 11-5.
- There were a total of 30 fouls in the contest.
- Five cards were given out in the contest including one red.
