BREVARD, N.C. - The Piedmont women's soccer team was unable to overcome an early deficit and fell ,1-0, at Brevard on Wednesday night.
The Tornados struck in just the game's fourth minute and made the lead stand up the rest of the way in the shutout win.
The shot count for the game favored the Lady Lions by a 7-6 margin as they held Brevard without a single shot in the second half.
Before the teams had settled in, the Tornados' Ashley Royster found the back of the net off a feed from Tae Brown and beat Piedmont goalkeeper
LAILA ALLEN for the eventual game winner. Allen played the majority of the game in goal for the Lady Lions and made five saves in the contest, all coming in the first half.
Senior defender
KATELYN SMITH led the Lady Lions with two shots, both of which were on target.
Brevard goalkeeper Rebecca Rojas came through in the clutch with four saves on the evening.
Up next, the Lady Lions will look to rebound as they remain in conference, taking on LaGrange for a 5 p.m. road contest this Saturday, Oct. 2.
TURNING POINT:
- Royster's fourth minute goal proved to be the difference as Piedmont was unable to find the back of the net.
