LaGRANGE, Ga. - The Piedmont women's soccer team delivered a 2-0 road shutout of LaGrange on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Georgia.

The Lady Lions scored a goal early in both halves and held the Panthers off the scoreboard to rebound from Wednesday's road loss and jump back over .500 in conference play.

Junior KAYLEE KING scored her team-leading third goal of the season, which proved to be the game winner, while fellow junior JADE EDWARDS put the game away, finding the back of the net in the second half for her first goal of the season.

As has been the theme of many recent Piedmont victories, it struck in the early going, with King scoring in the game's opening minute.

After the Lady Lions jumped out front, the Panthers settled in, with the shot count going into half just 10-9 in favor of Piedmont.

Much like the first half, the Lady Lions were able to stun LaGrange with a goal early in the period, this time from Edwards just 1:40 into the second half.

From there, Piedmont was able to protect its two-goal advantage the rest of the way, holding the Panthers to just two second half shots thanks to a strong defensive effort.

With Piedmont just leading by a goal in the first half, freshman goalkeeper LAILA ALLEN made five key saves to keep LaGrange off the scoreboard.

Up next, the Lady Lions will return home but step out of conference and host Warren Wilson this Monday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- Not even a minute into the contest, KAYLEE KING struck for her third goal in the past five contests, the only one which the Lady Lions needed.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- JADE EDWARDS struck for the first time all season to give Piedmont a 2-0 cushion early in the second half.
- LAILA ALLEN added five more saves, all coming in the first half.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Lions held a 4-0 edge in corner kicks for the contest.
