DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's soccer team cruised past Warren Wilson, 4-0, on a damp and cloudy Monday night at the Walker Athletic Complex.

The Lady Lions used a three-goal barrage midway through the first half to put the game away, controlling possession and dominating from start-to-finish in the nonconference victory.

Sophomore defender MEGAN ZELDENRUST had a spectacular evening, dishing out her first career assist while also scoring her first career goal.

Piedmont struck first as sophomore MADI GALLARELLI headed home a corner kick from MANDY WEINHART for her first career goal, coming in the 19th minute. Moments later, Weinhart herself struck, also putting a header into the back of the net off a beautiful cross from Zeldenrust.

The three-goal onslaught finally concluded as senior forward TORI ROPER subbed in and immediately made an impact, slipping behind the defense and scoring her second career goal, in the 26th minute.

The Lady Lions took that 3-0 lead into the break and held the Owls without a single shot attempt in the first half.

Zeldenrust's career night got even better as she broke through for her first career goal off a corner kick delivered by JADE EDWARDS. After Zeldenrust's 52nd minute strike, the Lady Lions were held off the board the rest of the way, but remained in complete control and put away the Owls to improve to 4-1 at home.

Three Lady Lions saw action in goal as LAILA ALLEN earned the start while MADI WILSON and HAYLEE DORNAN also saw action.

Up next, Piedmont will welcome USA South West Division rival Maryville to Demorest for a Friday night showdown at 7 p.m. The Lady Lions defeated the Scots 1-0 in the spring to capture the USA South West Division Tournament title.

TURNING POINT:
- The three-goal barrage from Gallarelli, Weinhart and Roper erased all doubt from the outcome midway through the first half.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Gallarelli and Zeldenrust each netted their first career goal in the green and gold.
- After leading the team with 10 goals over the past two seasons, Weinhart found the back of the net for the first time this fall.
- Roper scored her second career goal for Piedmont and first since 2019.
- JADE EDWARDS' assist marked her team-leading third of the season.

OF NOTE:
- Two of Piedmont's goals came off corner kick opportunities.
