MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Piedmont College's softball team remained unbeaten in USA South conference play with an emphatic doubleheader sweep on the road at Maryville on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lady Lions scored early and often in both games on Wednesday to claim a 6-1 victory in game one before disposing of the Scots 11-2 in just six innings in game two.

To start game one, Piedmont took advantage of a pair of Maryville errors and scored three runs on a pair of hits to open the doubleheader. KATELYN PERRY's 2-RBI double highlighted the first frame and set the table for the rest of the afternoon.

Piedmont scored once more in each the second and third innings on RBIs from Perry and MACKENZIE DAVIS, then added its final run in the seventh on an RBI sacrifice fly from KARA TAYLOR that scored KAITLIN ISLEY after her leadoff double.

Maryville's lone run of game one came in the bottom of the fifth after the Scots strung together three hits off Piedmont's EMMA MCBRAYER, but it wasn't enough to mount any kind of comeback. McBrayer threw all seven innings to earn her fifth win of the season after allowing just one earned run and only one walk.

In game two, Piedmont again hung a crooked number on the board in the top of the first as three runs came home on RBI hits from Perry and KAYLEE WHITE. White's two-RBI triple was her first extra-base hit of the season.

Maryville responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half on a two-run home run from Taylor Campbell. After allowing two hits in the first frame, Piedmont starter MARTINA MALOCH settled in and allowed just one more hit across the following five innings, en route to her third win of the year.

Piedmont bats were awake again in the third inning of game two as four runs came home on four hits. The inning was punctuated by TK SAULS' three-RBI double to left center field.

The Lady Lions clocked four more hits and another pair of runs in the fourth inning to lead 9-2 before delivering the dagger in the sixth inning.Perry led off the inning with a solo shot to left field, followed by a single from Taylor. Pinch runner HANNAH CALLAWAY would later come around to score on MACIE ALLEN's RBI double, her first extra-base hit of the year, to complete Piedmont's resounding 11-2 sweep.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
