FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Piedmont men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 contest on Sunday afternoon to USA South foe Methodist in nonconference action in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
The Lions were unable to secure a doubles point and fell in straight sets in all six singles matches.
It was a slow start for Piedmont as the Monarchs rolled to an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles before sweeping with a pair of 8-2 victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Singles action was more of the same with Methodist taking all six lines.
Freshman
BRYCE VANORDER delivered a valiant effort at No. 2 singles, battling in the first set before falling, 7-5, and then falling, 6-3, in the second to allow Henry Murray to take the match.
Methodist clinched the win at 5-0 thanks to a 6-1, 6-0 win from Trent Harner at No. 3 singles.

SILAS SANDLES fought in the second before falling, 6-4, at No. 5 singles.
Up next, the Lions will stay out of conference for a road battle with Point at 2:30 p.m. this Tuesday, March 9.
