MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Piedmont men's tennis team took home its fourth consecutive win, besting Pfeiffer by a 7-2 score on Sunday afternoon in Miseinheimer, North Carolina.
With the Falcons only having five available players, the Lions took No.3 doubles by default for a 1-0 lead before Pfeiffer responded by winning both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to regain momentum heading to singles.
After Piedmont evened the match with a win by default at No. 6 singles, the Lions regained traction and took four of the next five singles lines in straight sets.
Freshman
BRYCE VANORDER gave PC the 3-2 lead with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 2 singles before
HOUSTON MEDLOCK outlasted Dylan Masters 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles to put the Lions within a point of clinching the win.
The clinch came in the form of PC's only three-set win of the day as
CHRIS BALE battled back from down a set to dominate the second (6-0) and third sets (6-1) and allow the Lions to clinch at 5-2.
Playing out the remaining two matches, freshman
SILAS SANDLES continued his impressive rookie campaign with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 as senior
CHASE MORRIS rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4.
Up next, the Lions will return to conference play with a road tilt against Covenant next Saturday, March 27 at 2 p.m.
