LaGRANGE, Ga. – The Piedmont College volleyball team dropped a pair of road contests at LaGrange Sunday, falling 3-0 in both matches. The trip marked the first road contests of the season for the Lady Lions.
Match 1: Piedmont 0, LaGrange 3
The Lady Lions tied the contest at 15 all in the opening set, but the Panthers went on a 7-1 run to take a 22-16 lead. The Panthers took the first set 25-20 despite late efforts by Piedmont.
In the second, Piedmont took an early lead 7-3 and eventually led 16-12, but the Panthers once again used a run of their own to rally back. LaGrange took the second set 25-20 outscoring Piedmont 13-4 down the stretch.
The third set of the first match saw LaGrange take control early and claim a 25-15 win scoring the final nine points of the set. JESSICA BEIL had 15 digs while JENNIFER HERRERA added 16 assists. Both ALINA ROBERTS and BRIANNA KING tallied seven kills.
Match 2: Piedmont 0, LaGrange 3
Piedmont saw a similar fate in the second match with the Panthers winning 25-20, 25-16 and 25-21. Despite being able to keep it close, the Lady Lions were unable to close out a set for a win in the match.
The Lady Lions got out to a 10-4 lead in the first set of the second match and led 20-14, but again, the Panthers used a rally to score the final 11 points and claim the win.
The second set saw Piedmont call timeout down 15-10, but the Lady Lions were only able to tally 16 in the set. Piedmont threatened at set point twice as Chadwell and REAGAN MERCADO added late kills.
Piedmont had a late rally in the third set scoring five straight to make it 20-17, but could not close it out in a 25-20 loss.
AUBREE YANCEY led Piedmont with seven kills while King added six. MARY-GRACE SHAW led the team with 17 digs and TAYLOR BROWN led with 15 assists.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--Piedmont had eight aces in the first match while holding the Panthers without a single ace.

HANNAH KATE CHADWELL recorded three blocks in the first match.

BRIANNA KING had seven kills in the first match and six in the second to bring her season total through four matches to 28.
