DANVILLE, Ky. - In the first road trip of the season, the Piedmont College men's lacrosse team couldn't keep pace with the Centre Colonels in a 12-6 loss.
AVERY JENKS led Piedmont with a hat trick scoring half of Piedmont's goals with three in the contest.
Centre led after the first quarter 2-0 as the Lions were unable to score until the 10:55 mark in the second quarter.
AVERY JENKS made it happen all on his own with an unassisted goal to cut the Colonels lead to 3-1. The Lions quickly added another goal on the board as
JACOB WALKER finished off a pass from
CHASE GOFF to make it 3-2.
With 2:27 before halftime, Centre made the most of a man-up opportunity to add another goal to their tally leading 4-2 at the break. It was a low-scoring first half but the Colonels came out firing in the third.
Centre would add five goals in the third quarter to Piedmont's one as
BRADY JENKS got on the board with 2:45 left in the period with the assist once again going to Goff. Centre's final goal in the period came within the final minute as Piedmont trailed 9-4 heading into the fourth quarter.
Goff added a goal on to his two assists to start the fourth quarter and notched his third assist on a late
AVERY JENKS goal inside the final minute of play.
ZACH CZULADA worked in cage for the Lions stopping 14 shots.
BEN HANFLAND led Piedmont with 4 groundballs while
ZACK SCHRAMM accounted for two caused turnovers.
Up next, the Lions head to Birmingham-Southern to battle Friday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
