MOUNT BERRY. Ga. – The Piedmont women's tennis team took to the road on Thursday afternoon, falling 7-2 at Berry.

For the Lady Lions (2-2), the afternoon was highlighted by a dominant performance at No. 1 singles by freshman
IMANI VINCENT. In her third consecutive match playing in the No. 1 slot, Vincent rolled to a 6-3 first set win before not dropping a game in the second on the way to her second straight victory.

However, the Vikings (2-0) were able to take seven of the other eight lines to win the match, 7-2.

In doubles action, Berry took control with a pair of 8-3 wins at No. 1 and No. 2. As the Lady Lions tried to claw their way back into the match at No. 3 doubles, the Vikings eked out an 8-7 (3) win to complete the doubles sweep and take complete control.

After Vincent's win put a point on the board for Piedmont, Berry quickly answered with a. pair of straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 3 to clinch the match at 5-1.

The Lady Lions continued to battle even with the outcome decided. Freshman
ABBEY GRACE VENHAM delivered a dominant win of her own, prevailing 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6 singles to add another match for PC.

Up next, the Lady Lions are back in action shortly, taking on Shorter in Rome this morning at 10 a.m.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Vincent's victory at No. 1 singles improves her to 2-1 in that spot this season. She is now 14-2 in singles matches over her Piedmont career.
- After winning her Piedmont singles debut on Sunday at BSC, Venham won again at No. 6 singles Thursday, moving to 2-0 at that spot in the lineup.
