MACON, Ga. - The Piedmont women's soccer team bounced back in a big way, rolling past Wesleyan, 6-0, in Macon on Wednesday evening.

The Lady Lions (3-5, 2-1 USA South) struck for two goals in the first half before pouring it on with four more in the second to run away with the victory.

It did not take long for Piedmont to get the only goal it needed as GABBIE HAYES found the back of the net for the first time in her career off a feed from AMANDA WEINHART. The score remained at 1-0 for much of the first half, but PC struck again just before the break as sophomore LESLEY RANDALL also scored her first career goal, this one coming in the 44th minute.

Already with the game in hand, PC delivered an offensive onslaught beginning midway through the second half. Weinhart struck first, scoring her team-leading third goal of the season off an assist from KATELYN SMITH in the 68th minute. From there, the floodgates opened as the Lady Lions scored three more times in the 20 plus minutes of the contest.

In the 70th minute, JULIA GIB tallied her first career goal off an assist from freshman HALEY RIZZO. Just under nine minutes later, Piedmont added its fifth as MADISON HATFIELD found the back of the net. Hatfield's goal was assisted by MARGARET GREENWALD, her first career point as a Lady Lion.

Finally, in the 88th minute, ANYA OLSON put the finishing touches on the win with her first goal of the season and second of her career.

Overall, Piedmont created numerous opportunities throughout the evening, delivering 31 shots with 18 being on target.

Wesleyan goalkeeper Sha Sha Edouard made nine saves in the losing effort.

Up next, the Lady Lions remain on the road traveling to take on Lynchburg this Friday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont struck early as GABBIE HAYES' first career goal proved to be the only one the team needed in the shutout win.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Weinhart delivered her third goal of the season and found Hayes in the first half for what turned out be the deciding goal.
