DEMOREST, Ga. – Piedmont College's women's soccer team suffered a third-straight loss on Sunday night with a 3-0 home loss to Berry College. The loss drops the Lions to 2-5 on the season and just 1-2 at home.
The Lions have now been held scoreless in their last two contests and three times total this season. On Sunday night, Piedmont managed only seven shot attempts compared to 18 for the Vikings.
Berry dominated the time of possession early in the game, which lead to the Vikings' first goal from Allie Bertany in the 40
th minute.
Knowing they had to be aggressive to get back into the game, the Lions tried to push forward as often as they could and managed to play good emergency defense when they needed to. However, Berry took advantage of their chances with goals in the 69
th and 89
th minutes.
Both of Berry's last two goals came from Maeve McDougal, with her first being on a header that beat Piedmont goalkeeper
MADI WILSON to the far post off of a Karsen Brantley corner kick.
In her first collegiate start, Wilson allowed three goals but made five saves against an aggressive Berry team that took lots of chances but didn't miss many of their better ones.
