DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's basketball team raced past Wesleyan 78-33 on Saturday afternoon inside Cave Arena for its sixth straight win to open USA South play.
All six of Piedmont's wins during the streak have been by double digits with five of the six coming by at least 18 points.
Much like Friday night, it was a balanced scoring attack for the Lady Lions as 15 different players found the basket.
NAKIYAH WASHINGTON led the way with 13 points and six steals.
Piedmont jumped out to a quick lead, scoring the game's first 12 points before the Wolves (2-5, 2-5 USA South) were able to crack the scoreboard. However, Wesleyan battled back with a 10-4 run to close the quarter down by just six points.
The Lady Lions used a dominant defensive effort to once again extend their lead to double digits going into halftime. Wesleyan scored just six points on two field goals in the period as Piedmont took a 28-16 lead to the locker room.
After a slow offensive start to the game, Piedmont's offense picked up in the third as it scored 16 straight points to begin the half and held the Wolves scoreless for over six minutes. The Lady Lions scored 32 points in the period, connected on all four of their three-point attempts and shot 70% from the floor.
