DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont volleyball team battled against the Bob Jones Bruins Tuesday evening falling short in a 3-1 loss. The Lady Lions claimed the opening set, but Bob Jones proved to be too much to match through the duration. 

In the opening set, Piedmont came out strong and capitalized on early Bruins' errors. The Bruins led 14-10, but Piedmont rallied back to lead 17-16. Bob Jones was forced into late timeouts by the Lady Lions' performance, and Piedmont took the first set 25-20. Piedmont totaled 16 kills in the opening set. 

The Bruins came to life in the second set with a dominant 25-11 win to knot it up at one set each. Bob Jones hit .519 in the second set after a negative attack percentage in the opening set. 

Both the third and fourth sets were won 25-22 by BJU with Piedmont threatening throughout. The Lady Lions continued to press the Bruins giving them quite the scare. 

BROOKLYN GUNN totaled 31 assists to lead the Lady Lions while JESSICA BEIL contributed 38 digs. 

Up next, Piedmont hosts a tri-match to end the season with Huntingdon and Maryville competing inside Cave Arena Friday beginning at 3 p.m.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Piedmont was led by HANNAH KATE CHADWELL with 11 kills while BRI KING added 10.
--The Bruins' Victoria Glaze added 22 kills to lead BJU. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--For Bob Jones, this marked their tenth straight victory this season.
