DEMOREST, Ga. – For the second straight day, the Piedmont women's basketball team led wire-to-wire, this time taking down Huntingdon, 73-62, on Saturday afternoon at Cave Arena.

The win improves the Lady Lions to 4-0 in the USA South as the team is currently tied with Maryville and LaGrange atop the West Division standings.

LIVIA SKINNER broke out for Piedmont, leading all scorers with 21 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists. She was joined in double figures by HOPE FRANKLIN, who tallied 14 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting afternoon. MAKAYLA SCHYMANSKI delivered a season-high 10 points on 11 minutes off the bench.

The Lady Lions jumped out to a quick start thanks to a strong defensive effort in the first quarter, holding the Hawks scoreless for the first 4:20 of the contest. However, Piedmont also struggled on the offensive end, shooting 30% from the field in the quarter.

Leading by five heading to the second, the Lady Lions offense caught fire as they banked all four of their three-point attempts in the period with three coming from Skinner. The defensive remained stingy as PC took a 34-19 edge to the locker room.

It was more of the same coming out of halftime as the Lady Lions shot 57% from the floor in the third quarter and attempted 17 free throws. The lead extended to a game-high 26 points as COLBY REED knocked down 1-of-2 from the line in the final seconds of the period.

With the game out of reach, Huntingdon was able to fight back with 27 points in the final quarter to cut its final margin of defeat to just 11 points.
