ORLANDO, Fla. – The Piedmont women's tennis team prevailed in a pair of matches on Sunday in Orlando.
 
The Lady Lions (6-2) began the morning with a grueling 5-4 win over Dickinson before rolling past the University of Saint Francis, 7-0, to conclude its second day in Orlando.
 
Match 1: Piedmont 5, Dickinson 4
 
Doubles was crucial for Piedmont as it eked out a morning victory over the Red Devils.
 
MEGAN WALDHEIM and CAROLINE CONNELLY rolled to an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles but the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams for the Lady Lions fought to earn a pair of key points to give PC a 3-0 lead going into singles.
 
IMANI VINCENT and SAMANTHA LOWRY were victorious, 8-6, at No. 2 while KARA LANDSIEDEL and DAKOTA WILKES won by the same score at No. 3.
 
Singles action belonged to the Red Devils, but PC received a win by forfeit at No. 6 and MORGAN BUCHHOLZ provided the clincher with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 5.

The Lady Lions returned to the courts and capped off their evening with a dominating 7-0 sweep.
 
With only one point being awarded for doubles, PC only dropped two total games on its way to a pair of 6-1 wins and a 6-0 sweep.
 
Singles was more of the same as the Lady Lions won all six matches in straight sets.
