ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Piedmont women's tennis team battled but fell, 6-3, to Occidental in its first match of its Orlando spring break trip on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Lions (4-2) fell in a pair of third-set match tiebreakers as the Tigers (2-2) handed them just their second loss of the season.

Occidental was able to take two of three doubles matches by an 8-5 margin. However, PC earned a big point as
KARA LANDSIEDEL and
MAGGIE MOODY were victorious at No. 3.

Piedmont's singles action was highlighted by freshman
IMANI VINCENT's 10-6 win in a third-set match tiebreaker as well as
MAGGIE MOODY's straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Â
MEGAN WALDHEIM and
MORGAN BUCHHOLZ each fell in third-set match breakers at No. 1 and No. 6, respectively.

Up next, the Lady Lions will play two matches tomorrow starting at 8 a.m. against Dickinson and concluding at 6:30 p.m. against the University of Saint Francis.
