ORLANDO, Fla. – The Piedmont men's tennis team concluded its Orlando trip with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Ursinus on Thursday morning.
 
With the match all squared at 4-all, sophomore CHRIS BALE took a third-set match tiebreaker, 10-8, to lift the Lions to the win.
 
Doubles play was hotly contested with the Bears coming out on top in two of the three matches. PC was able to gain a crucial point at No. 3 as JJ Gray and CHASE MORRIS delivered an 8-3 win.
 
Singles play was also evenly matched with momentum shifting multiple times during the match. Morris rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles while HOUSTON MEDLOCK prevailed in a second-set tiebreaker to win at No. 3.
 
With the match tied at 4-4, the stage was set for Bale at No. 1 singles. After taking the first set, 6-3, his opponent Mason Groff battled back to win the second-set breaker, 7-3, to send the match to a 10-point super breaker.
 
As the breaker went back-and-forth, Bale prevailed in a long rally to win his match, 10-8, and end the trip on a high note for the Lions.
 
Up next, Piedmont returns home to Demorest and is scheduled to take on Huntingdon in nonconference action this Saturday, March 14 at 2 p.m.
