DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College baseball team dropped a 9-0 decision to Hampden-Sydney Wednesday afternoon at Loudermilk Field. The Lions fell behind early and were unable to overcome the slow start.
Hampden-Sydney was quick on the board with four runs in the first and another three in the second as they took a 7-0 lead into the third inning. Hampden-Sydney added another run in the third inning to make it 8-0 before tacking on their final run in the sixth.
Piedmont was able to put seven hits on the board but was not able to string them together.
NATE ROTENBERGER took the loss for the Lions as the starter on the mound moving his record to 1-1.
Piedmont used a total of three pitchers as
NATHAN BOYCE made a relief appearance then
MATT ALTER tossed a solid five innings allowing one run and six hits. All three Piedmont pitchers only allowed one earned run each.
This marked the first time in 2020 that the Lions have been shutout.
Up next, the Lions head to LaGrange for a conference series with the Panthers beginning Friday at 7 p.m.

CONNER JELLEY both had two hits for Piedmont accounting for four of Piedmont's seven hits.
