CULLOWHEE, N.C. – In Piedmont's second-straight Division I exhibition, the Lions dropped a 96-58 decision on the road to Western Carolina. The Lions kept it close in the first half trailing at the break 43-39, but a strong second-half start from the Catamounts proved to be too much for Piedmont. 
ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS started the scoring for the Lions draining a 3-pointer as the Lions banked seven 3-pointers in the first half. Piedmont continued to battle and match the Catamounts trailing by no more than three in the first 17:00 of the game. 
Piedmont took a three point lead 24-21 on a 3-pointer by 
RYAN JOLLY who accounted for 14 points in the first half including two from beyond the arc. The Lions led 28-27 but Western Carolina used three-straight 3-pointers to build up a lead it would not relinquish. 
The Lions traled by four at the half, but the Catamounts left no doubt out of the locker room reeling off a 27-2 run to open the second half. The Lions were held to just two points over the first 10:00 in the second half. 
Piedmont managed just 19 points in the second half to Western Carolina's 53. Thirteen players saw time for Piedmont while 12 of the 13 played 11 minutes or more in the game. 
 
TURNING POINT:
--The Catamounts used a 27-2 run to open the second half and take control of the contest. 
 
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

RYAN JOLLY led Piedmont with 19 points scoring 14 in the first half while also leading the team with four assists.

JORDAN FOOTE posted 11 rebounds and five points totaling 19 minutes in the game. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--Piedmont trailed by only four points at the break, 43-39, after giving the Catamounts a scare in the first half. 
 
UP NEXT:
--Piedmont is scheduled to host Greensboro College Saturday at 3 p.m. inside Cave Arena.
