SALEM, Va. - The Piedmont College volleyball team lost 3-0 on the road to Roanoke Saturday to finish action at the Roanoke College Maroon Classic. The Lady Lions nearly mounted a comeback in the third set coming back to tie the set at 24, but ultimately lost 27-25. 

In the first set, Piedmont kept it close as it was tied at 13, but the Maroons used a 7-1 run to claim the lead for good and take the first set 25-20. In the second, the Lady Lions fell behind early 12-7 and lost 25-14 after Roanoke scored the final seven points of the set. 

The third set was the most promising as Piedmont faced match point at 24-20 but scored four to tie the match. The Maroons were able to complete the match taking the third set 27-25. 

ALINA ROBERTS led Piedmont with eight kills while LAINEY CHOINIERE posted 14 digs. 

Turning Point
--The Lady Lions fell behind 2-0 in the match and nearly pulled it out in the third coming back to tie the set at 24-all, but fell 27-25.

Standout Performances
--The Maroons had a pair of players with 10+ kills while ALINA ROBERTS led Piedmont with eight kills. 

News & Notes
--Piedmont is now 2-2 all-time against Roanoke.

--The Lady Lions return to action Saturday with a tri-match inside Cave Arena as they host Averett and Reinhardt.
