ROME, Ga. – The Piedmont women's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup to Berry College on Wednesday night, losing 1-0 in overtime to the instate rival.
After battling to a scoreless tie at the end of regulation, overtime began with little action until a
MIRANDA MCNALLEY save set the Vikings up with a corner kick at 93:27. Following the kick, Berry wound up as the beneficiary of the Piedmont penalty.
The Vikings went on to convert the penalty kick to hand Piedmont its second loss in three games to begin its season.
The first half was a balanced effort by both teams as Berry led Piedmont 4-3 in shots but tied 1-1 shots on goal.
VERONICA CAPPAS had a team-high four shots for the game as three other players combined for the remaining three shots.
Berry controlled the second half with 10 shots while Piedmont could only muster four.
