DEMOREST, Ga. – In yet another comeback match, the Piedmont College volleyball team claimed a 3-1 win over local foe Toccoa Falls College. The Lady Lions used the dominance of
ALINA ROBERTS at the net to gain momentum in the contest as she had a season-high 21 kills.
The Screaming Eagles came out of the gates hot with a 25-19 win in the first and led 11-5 in the second set before the Lady Lions came alive. Piedmont stormed back to take a 17-14 lead and held on after the Screaming Eagles tied the contest at 23.
ERICA BALKCUM secured a kill followed by an attack error from Toccoa Falls to seal a 25-23 win to tie the match at 1-1.
The third set was evenly matched as it was tied at 14 before Piedmont surged ahead with a 9-1 run to take the set 25-18. Piedmont led 13-9 in the fourth forcing a Toccoa Falls timeout, but their fate was sealed as Piedmont won 25-22 to take the match 3-1.
JENNA WENDEL had 39 assists while
LAINEY CHOINIERE had 29 digs.
HANNAH KATE CHADWELL posted five blocks while
AUBREE YANCEY added three.
TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont fell behind 1-0 and overcame a six point deficit in the second set to even the match and gain momentum.
