Weinhart’s Brace Leads Piedmont Past Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va. – Piedmont sophomore AMANDA WEINHART scored a pair of goals on Tuesday night to lead the Lady Lions' women's soccer team to a 2-1 decision over Emory & Henry in a non-conference matchup on the road.
 
Both teams played the opening half to a 0-0 score with Piedmont (6-4-1) leading 13-7 in shots in the first 45 minutes of play.
 
After the break, Weinhart wasted no time, scoring off a pass from CASSIE KIRK to put Piedmont ahead 1-0 in the 48th minute.
 
Less than 14 minutes later, Emory & Henry (2-5-1) tied the game 1-1 at 61:25.
 
With 20 minutes left, Weinhart and Kirk both checked back into the game and connected for the game-winner in the 71st minute. Weinhart has a team-high four goals this season, doubling her freshman season total.
 
Freshmen ANYA OLSON and KAYLEE KING each had three shots and two shots on goal. Senior ANSLYN STAMPS led all players with four shots. Kirk added two shots with one on target.
 
Junior MIRANDA MCNALLEY made seven saves with one goal while playing all 90 minutes.

Standout Performers
-- Weinhart has her first multi-goal game of her career while Kirk has her second-career multi-assist game (Millsaps 9/10/17).
