Lady Lions Close Texas Trip With Loss at Hardin-Simmons

ABILENE, Texas – The Piedmont women's soccer team closed its 2019 Texas trip with a 3-1 loss at Hardin-Simmons on Saturday night.
 
Hardin-Simmons (3-2-1) dominated the first half with a pair of goals scored in the 30th and 44th minute and held a 17-3 shot advantage at halftime.
 
After the break, the game was a more balanced effort by both teams as the shot count was 8-8 for the second half.
 
A Cowgirl handball inside the 18-yard box set Piedmont (5-4-1) up with a penalty kick opportunity and a way back into the game in the 78th minute.
 
Senior ANSLYN STAMPS would convert the ensuing PK and the Piedmont offense would go on the offensive for the remainder of the game.
 
Stamps had a second chance in the 83rd minute off a free kick but hit the crossbar before Hardin-Simmons was able to clear the ball out of the zone.
 
The Cowgirls would go on to add an insurance goal in the 90th minute.
