ABILENE, Texas – KATELYN SMITH scored two goals as the Piedmont College women's soccer team battled McMurry University to a 2-2 draw on Friday night.

The War Hawks (4-0-4) controlled the game early with six shots in the opening 20 minutes while MIRANDA MCNALLEY made five saves to keep the game scoreless.

After a trio of McMurry fouls, Smith was able to find the back of the net for her first goal of the season in the 36th minute.

The sophomore took the free kick from just over 30-yards out and placed the ball just under the cross bar for the game's opening goal. The Lady Lions would head into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.

McNalley finished the first half with six saves.

McMurry wasted no time in the second half, scoring a pair of goals (48:42 and 52:20) to pull ahead 2-1. The War Hawks continued their offense attack, but it was Smith who delivered another strike in the 64th minute.

After another McMurry foul, Smith set the ball up from close to 30-yards away again for a similar goal.

The Piedmont goal turned the momentum back to their side, but neither team could score in the final minutes of regulation to setup overtime.

The Lady Lions fired off five shots in the two overtime periods as McMurry shot three times.
