LEXINGTON, Va. – The Piedmont men's lacrosse team lost 23-2 to No. 13 Washington and Lee in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday night.

The Lions' (9-9) historic season comes to an end with the loss while W&L (16-4) will advance to the third round with a matchup at York (Pa.) on Saturday.

The Generals made their 21st NCAA appearance on Wednesday and came in with an 11-game winning streak while Piedmont made its first tournament appearance. The Lions also made history by becoming the first lacrosse program to represent the state of Georgia in the NCAA tournament across Division I, II and III.

W&L scored the game's first goal at 11:05 and closed the first quarter with a 5-0 lead. The Generals would then extend its lead to 8-0 before JOSH COBBINA scored off an assist from NICK BURNS in transition to put Piedmont on the board with 2:25 to play in the first half.

The Generals opened the second half with a man-up goal and pulled ahead 12-1 with five minutes left in the third quarter.

BRADY JENKS scored an unassisted goal to cut the deficit to 12-2, but the W&L depth was too much for Piedmont as they finished the game with an 11-0 run.

ZACH CZULADA had 21 saves in goal and picked up two ground balls. The junior from Boca Raton, Fla. entered the game ranked third in the nation in save percentage.
