ROME, Ga. – The Piedmont College baseball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Berry College on the road Tuesday snapping an eight-game win streak. The loss is the Lions' first since the LaGrange series in conference play.

In the first inning, the Vikings got on the board after loading the bases on three straight singles. With two outs, an error allowed a pair of runs to score to give Berry a 2-0 lead.

Piedmont got back one run in the top of the fourth as BRADY BALLSTADT hit a solo shot to cut the lead to 2-1. The homerun gave Ballstadt the career record for homeruns in Piedmont history. 

That was one of just two hits for the Lions in the game with TYLER SHELEY recording the other hit with a single in the sixth inning.

Piedmont starter TYLER FAIRCHILD pitched 5.1 innings allowing three runs but no earned runs. DAVID CRAFT and MATT VONDERSCHMIDT worked in relief on the mound allowing just one hit between the two. 
 
Up next, Piedmont heads to North Carolina Wesleyan College for a USA South series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
 
TURNING POINT:
-- The Vikings scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead on an error. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
-- BRADY BALLSTADT hit his second homerun of the season giving him 15 for his career and the career record at Piedmont. 

NEWS AND NOTES:
--These two teams met to begin the season with Piedmont taking the opening contest 11-3 at Loudermilk Field.
