LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's tennis team dropped the semifinal match against Methodist University 5-0 on Saturday morning.
The Lions were swept in doubles play with No. 1 doubles coming to a tie break with Methodist winning 8-7 (8-6).
The Monarchs earned an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles followed by an 8-2 win at No. 2 to take a 2-0 lead, but No. 1 was a hard-fought battle with the Monarchs emerging victorious.
In singles play, Methodist needed just two wins to clinch the match and earned those at No. 5 and No. 2. Trent Harner defeated
HARRISON LABOLLITA for the clinching win at No. 2 6-3, 6-0.
TURNING POINT:
-- The Monarchs took a 2-0 lead and sealed the doubles sweep with an 8-7 (8-6) win in the tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles.
