MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Piedmont College women's tennis team continued its dominant run through the USA South with a 9-0 sweep at Maryville on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Lions (15-3, 7-0 USA South) outlasted the Scots (6-9, 4-4 USA South) in all three doubles matches and proceeded to take each of the six singles lines in straight sets to improve to 7-0 in conference play.
Playing No. 2 doubles,
CAROLINE CONNELLY and
SAMANTHA LOWRY cruised to an 8-1 victory to put the first point of the match on the board. Then,
MORGAN BUCHHOLZ and
MEGAN WALDHEIM prevailed, 8-4, at No. 1 before
CRYSALIN GLORIA and
KARA LANDSIEDEL won, 8-5, at No. 3 to complete the doubles sweep for PC.
Waldheim quickly picked up a singles point with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3. Connelly then clinched the match, not dropping a single game in her match at No. 1 singles.
Buchholz, Landsiedel, Lowry and Gloria followed with two-set wins of their own to ensure another conference sweep for the Lady Lions.
Up next, Piedmont will return to action tomorrow at 3 p.m. with a road match against Sewanee.

MEGAN WALDHEIM needs just one more to set the Piedmont school record for singles wins in a season.
