DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College women's tennis team returned home on Saturday afternoon and rolled to a 9-0 shutout win over Berea on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Lions (13-2, 5-0 USA South) have now won all five USA South matches by a 9-0 score.
Once again, Piedmont cruised to a 3-0 lead with three dominating wins in doubles play.
SAVANNA KENNEDY and
TAYLOR SORRELLS put PC on the board with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles before
CAROLINE CONNELLY and
MAGGIE MOODY won by the same score at No. 1.
Playing No. 2 doubles,
MORGAN BUCHHOLZ partnered with
LILY MCNEEL to close out the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win.
Piedmont was even more dominant in singles play, winning five of the six matches 6-0, 6-0 and only dropping one game throughout singles.
Connelly earned the clincher, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 to secure the win for PC at 5-0.
Up next, the Lady Lions will hit the road for a Wednesday afternoon match against Oglethorpe at 3:30 p.m.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- As a team, the Lady Lions only dropped four total games over singles and doubles combined, including five 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles action.
