DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College women's tennis team remained perfect on the season against Division III opponents, delivering a 9-0 home sweep over conference foe Agnes Scott on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Lions (10-1, 2-0 USA South) only dropped seven total games over singles and doubles combined on their way to the dominant victory.
After Piedmont took No. 3 doubles by default, the No. 2 doubles team of
SAVANNA KENNEDY and
MAGGIE MOODY won, 8-0, followed quickly by another 8-0 win at No. 1 from
MORGAN BUCHHOLZ and
MEGAN WALDHEIM, which clinched the match for PC, with
CRYSALIN GLORIA already having finished a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to give the Lady Lions a 4-0 lead.
With the match in hand,
LILY MCNEEL also won her match at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0, while
KARA LANDSIEDEL dropped just one game on her way to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2.
Sophomore
CAROLINE CONNELLY closed out the contest with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 1 to give the Lady Lions their fourth 9-0 win of the season.
TURNING POINT:
- With a 4-0 lead after
CRYSALIN GLORIA clinched an 0 and 0 win at No. 5 singles,
MORGAN BUCHHOLZ and
MEGAN WALDHEIM delivered an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles to clinch the match.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES;
- Seeing her first doubles action of the season,
SAVANNA KENNEDY partnered with
MAGGIE MOODY to an 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles.
