LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Piedmont women's tennis team won its opening USA South Athletic Conference match of the season on Wednesday, taking down in-state opponent LaGrange College 9-0.
 
Piedmont took control early with by sweeping doubles.
 
The No. 2 and 3 teams won 8-0 while the No. 1 duo of MORGAN BUCHHOLZ and MEGAN WALDHEIM won 8-5.
 
The Lady Lions once again had no trouble when it came to singles play. In 12 sets, Piedmont dropped only 15 games.
 
Buchholz took the first singles point at No. 2, winning 6-2, 6-2 before Waldheim won at No. 3, 6-1, 6-1.
 
CAROLINE CONNELLY won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 while SAMANTHA LOWRY won at No. 6, 6-0, 6-1.
 
MAGGIE MOODY, playing at No. 5, won 6-1, 6-1 before KARA LANDSIEDEL won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4.
