DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College women's basketball team used a big fourth quarter rally to take down Birmingham-Southern, 67-59, on Monday afternoon at Cave Arena.

Trailing by four points heading into the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions (7-6) caught fire from the field in the final 10 minutes using a 14-0 crunch-time run to overtake the Panthers (9-3).

EMILY WILEY took over in the second half, scoring 19 of her career-high 24 points in the second half to lead Piedmont in scoring. Senior forward
BRITTANY WALKER helped PC own the rebounding battle, grabbing a career-high 18 in the win.

Piedmont's defense took care of BSC in the early going as it sparked a 10-2 run to start the contest. The Panthers were able to close the gap to four points going into the second period.

Both teams continued the intense defense in the second quarter, but neither team was unable to reach 30 points with PC going into the locker room up 29-26.

BSC took its first lead of the contest on Leah Middleton's three-pointer with 5:53 left in the contest. The Panthers took a game-high seven-point lead with 1:11 left in the third quarter before PC scored the final three points of the quarter.

Wiley's personal 6-0 run to begin the final quarter propelled Piedmont to a 46-46 tie. The Panthers were able to cling to the lead until midway through the quarter when a pair of free throws by
AMARI PRICE gave the Lady Lions a 57-55 lead.

PC continued to pour it on in the ensuing minutes as Wiley hit another three-pointer and Price converted a driving layup to put the Lady Lions up 62-55. From there, they were able to run out the clock and end the 2019 calendar year with an eight-point victory,

With their nonconference slate out of the way, the Lady Lions will return to USA South action with a road contest at Maryville this Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- From 3:58 left in the game until 51 seconds, PC outscored BSC, 14-0, and turned the tide of the game.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

EMILY WILEY reached a new season high of 24 points on 10-of-15 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. The freshman guard scored 19 of those points in the second half.

BRITTANY WALKER corralled a career-high 18 rebounds.

KARLA CANTRELL scored a season-best 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting and held BSC point guard Misa Fujii to 1-of-10 from the field and just five points.
