LA VERNE, Calif. – The Piedmont College women's basketball team fell, 102-60, at La Verne on Tuesday night in its final game in California.

The Leopards (7-2) led wire-to-wire, scoring the first 11 points of the contest and not looking back to hand Piedmont (6-6) its third consecutive loss.

BRITTANY WALKER was the only Lady Lion in double figures, scoring 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting to go along with nine rebounds. Fellow senior RAEGINE NEWKIRK pitched in with nine points and added a career-best 11 rebounds.

PC's offensive struggles continued early, as it was held off the scoreboard for the game's first 2:56 as the Leopards scored the contest's first 11 points. La Verne held a double-digit lead from there on, as the Lady Lions were unable to catch up.

Piedmont was able to score 18 points in the second quarter, but La Verne's offense did not let up, scoring at least 22 points in each quarter.

The Leopards erased all doubt by outscoring the Lady Lions, 30-14, in the third quarter.

Up next, Piedmont will break for almost two weeks before returning home to host Birmingham-Southern on Monday, Dec. 30 at 4 p.m.
